Mirna Hunter

HETI

Medical Administration Trainee

Dr Mirna Hunter is an enthusiastic junior doctor whose journey has taken her from clowning with Dr Patch Adams in Morocco to learning Aerospace Medicine at NASA in Houston. She’s recently returned home after living the nomadic lifestyle of an Unaccredited Ophthalmology Registrar, working with the Fred Hollows Fellows on the Lions Outback Vision Van in Western Australian (An 18m long semi-trailer eye clinic that travels to 23 different remote sites in WA; providing bulk billed clinical, surgical and telehealth services to patients).

Her firsthand experience of the health care inequalities facing hard working Aussie’s in the outback has led to a dramatic change in her career trajectory. Mirna now aims to change the “system” and it’s “culture” from within, hence she is now a proud first year trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators; learning the leadership, finance and legal skills required to direct and manage the hospitals of the future.
