James Edwards


Chair of Prevocational Training

Dr James Edwards is the Director of the Emergency Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). James is the inaugural Medical Director of the Sydney Local Health District Demand Management Unit overseeing patient flow across the district. He is also the Clinical Chair of the NSW Prevocational Training council at the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) and previously held the position of Director of Prevocational Education and Training at RPAH for six years. In the Sydney University Medical Program, he chairs the Pre-internship program that aims to smooth the transition from medical school to internship.
James has a strong interest in teaching and education and has completed a Masters of Medical Education at the University of Sydney. He was awarded the NSW Geoff Marel award in 2013 in recognition of his contribution to the welfare and education of junior doctors.
James is also the founder of the website onthewards which is designed to assist medical practitioners in their earliest days of postgraduate practice.
