  1. Hi Anthony,

    I am Dr. Smit Shah,
I have done DNB Orthopaedics -3 years of formal training, followed by 2 years of fellowship in sub specialities like joint replacement, sports medicine. I have additional qualification of Diploma in Orthopaedics. Also i have done 2 years of short term specialist training (fellowship) in Australia. At present, I have 7 and half years of experience after passing DNB Orthopaedics and 1 and half year of Consultant practise experience after coming back from Australia.
Do you recommend putting papers for specialist assessment through RACS?

    1. Yes I would. You have a good chance. But you need to also consider is there a job opportunity to go into.

      1. Dear Anthony,
        Thank you for your reply.
I am applying for jobs (Orthopaedic fellow jobs) for 2021. Yet, no luck.
would you recommend taking help from any consultancy?
Also do you help in preparing for interview process with RACS? (of course if document review is successful.Planning to apply soon.)

  2. Hi Anthony,
I have completed my MBBS alongwith 1-year supervised training in 2010, after that I have done FCPS (Gynaecology & Obstetrics) from Pakistan in December 2019. This includes 4-years residency training.
Now I’m moving to Australia this year on a PR visa with my family. So should I focus on specialist pathway or standard pathway instead? Thanks.

          1. Thanks Anthony. But I’m bit worried because my post-specialisation experience starts from January 2020 and considering the cost involved in this pathway compells me to be very sure before stepping in. Thanks.

  4. My daughter is doing her MS in General Surgery. She will be completing in next year which is 3 years course in India. Post this what is the option she will have to opt for if she has to work in Australia. Please advise?

  5. Hey Anthony
I completed my MBBS in India. Then completed my MD radiology in India as well.(3 year MD training). Then I moved to the United States and about to complete 5 years of fellowship training in multiple subspecialities and also about to get American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification. I am contemplating a move to Australia after my board certification (mainly family reasons). I am confused about next step whether apply now to get a substantially comparable result or wait a year or two, get consultant level work exp in US and then apply? I would appreciate your input. Also would consider a strategy call with you guys but let me know what you think.

    1. Hi sounds like you would be pretty close to getting a substantially comparable result. I’d definitely recommend a strategy call.

  6. Hi, I am an Ophthalmologist (3 year MD course) trained from India. I have finished a one-year Oculoplastics and Ocular Oncology fellowship from India and a one-year Ocular Oncology Clinical Research fellowship from the US. Am I eligible for applying for the specialist pathway? Or do I need more work experience to be eligible for it? Please advise. Thank you

  8. I had responded to an internet ad on my email for a position of Urologist at BoyupBrook SMH at Boyup Brook.
The HR later got in touch with me by phone from +61 488893009.This read as Curtin university on truecaller on my phone. However the caller identified himself as HR from boyupbrook SMH.
He asked me to fill an audio questionnaire and followup for next stage in recruitment process.
I had in 2003 attended an RACS interview for a Consultant at Tasmania and had to submit a whole lot of documentation.
Also I am now 65 yrs old.
I would like to know from you does this approach from Boyupbrook sound genuine?
Should I follow this up should I ignore this?
At the last interview in 2002, the hospital from Tasmania had even paid for my trip to Melbourne for the interview.

    1. Hello, it sounds not to be genuine. You should be able to find the position advertised on an official Western Australian website.
Boyupbrook is a 12-bed community hospital which would probably be mainly run by local general practitioners. If they do require a urologist it would probably be no more than once a month to do a clinic.

      1. They are also aproached me via a employer site named Indeed they are asking me to make a passport and arrangements should i approach or not

    2. Hello please tell me more i also got a response from them I think its a Fraud did they asked for money or something else?

  9. Hi,I am a dermatologist working in india with 11 years of private practice post MD and have a PR also .Do I have any chance and how long will the specialist pathway

    1. Hello, there is always a chance I’d need to go more thoroughly through your application to let you know. The pathway generally takes about 6 months to apply for and go through the assessment process and then if favourable generally 1 to 2 years of assessment whilst working.
