  1. Hi
    Im a Dermatologist from India
MBBS and 3 year formal MD Training from India passed in 2014.
Worked in India till 2018 and now working in Dubai for past 2 years as Specialist Dermatologist.
Im intending to apply for Specialist Pathway, please do guide me.

    1. Hi with only 3 years formal dermatology training you will probably struggle to be seen as comparable. As I generally do. I’d recommend a strategy call to discuss further.

  2. Hello,
My sister is a DNB (Anesthesia) and is working as a Senior Resident in India from past 1 year. What are the chances for her and which pathway would be suitable if she is looking to settle in Australia?
    TIA!

  3. Hello sir,I am an Indian Microbiologist with MD , DNB degree in Microbiology ( 3 yr course) from a recognisable medical institute in India. I have 7 years of post PG experience of working as Assistant professor in central government college in India. I passed FRCPath part 1 exam in 2018. What are my chances of getting a job in Australia? Which pathway is suitable for me?

  4. Hi , I did MD Microbiology ( 3 yr training ) and DNB Microbiology in 2013. I passed FRCPath part I exam in 2018. I have 7 yrs of post PG experience of working in Medical college in India as recognised specialist. Which pathway is suitable for me to settle in Australia

    1. As per my previous reply possibly specialist pathway. However with 3 years formal training it may be touch and go, despie the FRCPath.

  5. Hello Anthony,

My Brother in Law is a Doctor in India for more than 20 years now (MD in Medicine). He’s now looking for overseas opportunities and is very interested in relocating to Australia. Is there anyway he can migrate to Australia, his present age is 48.
    Thanks

    1. Hi Rahul is he is trained in General Medicine he may have some opportunities. The age becomes a barrier in certain circumstances e.g. going for permanent residency.

      1. Hello Anthony,
I’ve completed my MBBS, MS (Ophthalmology) , fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and short term training in ROP(retinopathy of prematurity) with 4 years of work experience as a paediatric Ophthalmologist (Consultant).
I understand by your videos that the specialist pathway would be fit for me.
But does that mean I’ve to start my Masters all over again ? As in the specialty course again which is 5 years long ?
Is there any other way ?

        1. Hello Easha
I think you have misinterpreted my videos. The specialist pathway is about the college assessing your current training, qualifications and experience. Not about recommencing training again.

  6. Hello Sir, I have just cleared my DNB exam in Anesthesia. I wanted to apply for fellowship posts which are offered for 6 or 12 months.Do these posts require clinical experience other than DNB training for selection? How can I further secure a job after the completion of my fellowship? How much does the fellowship route costs?

    1. Hi, most fellowship posts are quite competitive and filled by local trainees first. Towards the end of each calendar year, there may be unfilled vacancies for fellow roles or more likely Advanced Trainee roles. If you get an offer it will generally mean taking the 2 years time-limited registration. So no. It’s not automatic that you can get another job after that. And finishing a fellowship does not make you a Fellow of the College.

  7. Hi
I have done MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology in India(completed december 2019). I joined in state health services after that, working as a Specialist medical officer in a regional hospital here(non academic) for almost 7 months now. Would i pass off as incompletely matched or deemed ineligible?

    1. Hi if you are talking about specialist pathway its highly unlikely you would pass at this point as you really have no consultant level experience to speak of.

      1. Well as of now my experience is more than a year as a Specialist Medical Officer in a regional hospital (non- academic). The Post graduation course here is 3 years. I will soon join Senior Residency which is again 3 years. At the end of my Senior Residency, i will have 6 years of academic experience and almost 2 years of non-academic medical as well as surgical experience. Would that be an ideal time to apply?

        1. That sounds like it might be a good time to apply. I would really suggest you book a call and we can go over your prospects and chances for you.

  8. Hi Anthony
I am an Indian Medical Microbiologist presently working in Kuwait having both MBBS and MD (Microbiology,3 years degree course) from India with almost 12 years post MD experience.I have also FRCPath (UK) in Microbiology. My questions are 1) What are the chances of recognition by the relevant college in Australia as being substantially comparable.2)What are the chances of getting a job as Medical Microbiologist in Australia.

    Thanks
    Dr Abdul Rashid

    1. Hi, I would say reasonably good with that combination of training and experience. It would depend particularly on the nature of the work you are doing currently and your CPD. I’d recommend a strategy call to clarify.

  9. He I have a few questions
    1. Do they help us in getting area of needs position like the step you said that we have to apply for specialist colleges and stuff do we have to apply in case of aon too?
    2. As an indian img who wants to do psychiatry but after plab AnD fy2 from uk so when will the time to enter aus be apt ? Fy2 or after completing specialist pathway ?
    3. In aon how many years do we need to work before we can shift to another place ?

    1. Hi
      1. The colleges also review AON applications (this is 99% the same as the specialist pathway) they do not help you find a position for either AoN or specialist pathway, that’s up to you.
      2. You are probably better moving to Australia before commencing psychiatry training or fully completing psychiatry training in the UK and achieving the CCST.
      3. AoN posts require renewal every now and then. It’s normally expected that you achieve specialist status within 2 or 3 years in that post.
