  1. Hi
I am Dr.lakshmi, I completed my mbbs in China cleared license exam in india and did post graduation in india masters in physiology (MD physiology) now working as assistant professor in medical college . I want to know whether I have a chance of working in Australian medical colleges or not . Do I need to have phd degree along MD or just MD IS SUFFICIENT or not .please suggest me the best way to enter into Australia

    1. Hi an MD in physiology is not going to help you much here as there is not really a college or specialty in physiology.

  2. hi iam gynecologist working in govt.hospital with 16 years experience after post graduation and my husband is gastroenterologist with 13 years experience after DM.what are our prospects of working in australia

    1. O&G is really tough at the moment due to the standards imposed by RANZCOG. Gastroenterology would be a bit easier. But the job prospects are reasonably tough.

  3. Hello Anthony
I am a cardiologist practising in India with degrees
    MBBS in 2007
Diplomate of national board in Medicine in 2012
Diplomate of national board in Cardiology in 2016
I’m practising as a Consultant in Interventional Cardiology since last five years
Any possibility of registration via specialist pathway especially in cardiology given the competition being tough.
Ur reply wud make me consider to go ahead or not.

    1. Hi Vin
To be open with you. You would probably get a favourable comparability assessment. But spots for SIMG cardiologists to do their supervised time are very limited here.

  4. Hello
    High regards for you guidance
I’m an indian mbbs graduate, currently planning to give PLAB and get GMC registration in the UK, complete my FY2 in UK and apply for the competant authority pathway in Australia.
    1) what are my chances of getting a job employment offer to get my general registration completed and how are we supposed to go about it?
    2) how can i pursue a speciality degree in obgyn in australia being an IMG? And what are my chances of working as an OBGYN specialist in australia?

    1. Hello with the above description of your plan you have a reasonable chance of gaining employment here. As always, everyone’s circumstances are different. So I’d encourage you to book a strategy call to get a more granular appraisal.

  5. Hi. I am Dr Arora from India. Got my PR Australia cleared my AMC 1..preparing for clinicals…. I have some doubts… Will My PR status affect my registration… What kind of jobs I can get other than GP to start initially… I have experience as clinical pharmacologist and Epidemiologist in India… Kindly guide

    1. Your PR or visa status has nothing to do with your medical registration.
I’d need to know more to guide you. Suggest you book one of my calls.

  6. Hai i am from india, now a days in india neet is compulsory to persue mbbs degree in abroad, but my question is if anyone who does not want to do in india, he directly persue his mbbs in other country, and can he attempt AMC exam to practice in australia ,and do pg programme in australia. With that pg austrlia liscence can he come back to india and get practice

    1. Thanks that’s a rather complicated question you put forward.
You can certainly do your MBBS in any country and sit the AMC exams. And if you make it through all the steps of the standard pathway apply for training in Australia.
I am not familiar with the system in India for recognising specialty qualifications from abroad. But I assume that Australian specialty qualifications carry some status in India.

  7. Hii Anthony

  8. I am looking for gaining supervised training ( Internship) opportunities for my son. He is an Australian Citizen and finished his MBBS degree from Malaysia in June 2021. He will take the AMC part 1 exam after registering with AMC and creating a Portfolio. Will he be able to gain a supervised training Internship position in rural regions in Australia after passing AMC part 1 or 2? I know it is hard to get into an Internship position for IMGs unless one is lucky to get into a WBA program. The MBBS program did not have a mandatory internship in Malaysia for graduation. It is not offered for International students. will he be able to gain the internship position anywhere in Australia after passing AMC part 1 and /or part 2, please? I checked the pathways on the AMC site and it does not clearly articulate that IMGs need to have completed one-year internship overseas to get into an internship position stipulated by AHPRA? He is a recent IMG. Thanks for your advise.

    1. Hello Nagesh
As highlighted internship positions for IMGs in Australia are very unlikely. Even with both AMC 1&2.

  9. Hello sir , I completed my MBBS from India and now I got permanent residency in Australia as my family is here. I also got selected for neurosurgery specialty in India . But I want to stay in Australia. My concern is whether I go for AMC / general registration and then apply for specialty in surgery in Australia itself or I should go for specialty in India for neurosurgery then come to Australia for specialist pathway? As I’m very much interested in neurosurgery what are my chances and how I can get speciality in neurosurgery after AMC / general registration in Australia? Is there anything like Indian medical graduates are not much preferred for surgical branches in Australia? If the chances are low then should I go for neurosurgery in India ? I’m very confused what to choose please help sir !

  10. Hello Anthony
    Greetings of the day

    1. Hello, Rohit it sounds like you would have enough training and experience to qualify for comparability for Renal Medicine with the RACP. I’d suggest booking in a clarity call and I can give you further guidance about the process.

      1. Hi Dr Anthony.
I have completed MD and DMRD from India with a total of 6 years radiology training experience. Which pathway is suggested? Can i apply for Radiology registrar positions as well?
        Thank you.

        1. Hello dr. Venkatesh… how you have training of 6 years? Please elaborate… you did md first and then dmrd? Is that possible now.? And isn’t dmrd 2 year course? Please elaborate your 6 yr training…
