  2. Hi
I am a General Surgeon from India with 6 years of post MS experience 3 years as an attending and associate consultant. I am trying to find a place for short term training in general surgery but I am unable to find any website for the same are there any specific websites or other way to find it?

    1. Yes. Go to the IMG Resources page on my website. Here I have listed all the State and Territory jobs boards.

  3. Hi Antony . I have recently finished my MD in internal medicine ( 3 yrs ) from India. I am planning for a career in Australia in the future. Going through the above queries , it seems that you need more formal training to get close to a substantial comparability. What would you suggest? Doing sub-speciality ( DM , for example in nephrology/ endocrinology) / DNB medicine /MRCP UK to boost the CV or just work as a senior resident / assistant professor ,get experience and then apply ?

    1. The ideal situation is more formal training. So something with a documented curriculum and assessment program. Don’t just sit an exam like the MRCP or DNB and don’t just do an unstructured senior resident year.

  4. Heyy!!! I have completed mbbs and md anesthesia (3 years)I’ve worked as senior registrar for 1 year and 3years experience as anesthetist…How are the chances for specialist pathway

  5. Hello Anthony
I have completed my Diploma Anaesthesia and DNB anaesthesia 3 years back from india. I have done 2 year fellowship in liver transplant anaesthesia and critical care from India’s busiest liver transplant center. Right now I am working as associate Consultant in liver transplant anaesthesia since 6 months..What are my chances to work in anaesthesia field in Australia and Which pathway is suitable for me?

Also my Husband is MS , DNB in surgical gastroenterology and working
as hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgeon as associate Consultant in india’s busiest liver transplant centre since 1 year ..I also wanted to know about his prospects and chances of working as hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgeon in Australia..
    Thanking you in advance.

    1. Hello Hetal
I would think you have good prospects with ANZCA.
Your husband will probably also pass comparability with RACS. But the bar with RACS always tends to be a bit higher. He may also struggle to get a supervisory post here that fits his subspecialty area of interest. If he were presented as a true general surgeon that would improve matters.
I’d recommend you book a call with me to discuss this furher.

  6. Hi Anthony!
I have completed my MBBS from a premier institute in india(4.5yrs + 1 yr of rotations).
Now I’ve cleared NEET PG and have options to pursue MD medicine/DNB medicine.I want to know if in future I want to practice in Australia which one of the above(MD or DNB) will have an advantage there.
    Thanks in advance

    1. DNB is seen as more prestigious. But if possible do 2 degrees. As the length of training is more important.

  10. Hi, I have done my MD in pediatrics from India and I have 4 yrs post MD experience and then I specialised in pediatric endocrinology from a premier institute in India and currently I have 3 year experience in ped endocrinology. Recently one Aussie prof offered me an observership for 3 month in Melbourne. But told that I can apply for 1 yr fellowship as well. Now, my question is, how commonly they accept an IMG for a long term fellow position. Plus, If I apply for a long term post, I would like to know the possibility of my husband getting a similar fellow post, who is an MCh plastic surgeon and cleared MRCS (though GMC registration is not done yet) and has 2 year post MCH experience in the field as consultant. Further, how to look for such opening, if any? Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi you will likely find it very easy to obtain a fellowship year in Paediatrics. Your husband will find it much more difficult with plastic surgery.

I’d recommend a strategy call if you would like to get more specific.
