    I am Kaushik Varsani
I completed MS ophthalmology in 2020.
Having 3 yrs experience after that.
    My age is 35.
What are my chances to immigrate to Australia.

    1. I can’t advise on immigration as I am not a registered migration agent.
In terms of work prospects, not impossible but harder than the average specialist IMG.

  4. Hi Anthony
    Great article
Can you tell me about of prospects for a Nephrologist though specialist pathway. How hard is it to get a training position after getting comparability? . My spouse has a work visa , can I work as a doctor on that or do I need a seperate sponsorship?
Hows the job prospects as an STT in Nephrology?

    1. Evey SIMG’s situation is different. Getting through the RACP process should be relatively okay. Obtaining a post may be more difficult.

  5. Hi Anthony

I’m an Anatomical Pathologist from India and I applied to the RCPA through Specialist Assessment pathway. The college has deemed me to be a partially comparable and now I have to undertake 24 months of supervised practice to get fellowship. I was wondering for the ways through which I can get into this. How am I supposed to find a suitable position (registrar or trainee) other than through this centralised recruitment process?

    Thank you for your consideration.

    1. Ad hoc jobs are also advertised on the various portals. You should also be using and improving on your networks to make personal connections with those in the hiring chair.

If you would like further support I suggest one of my strategy calls.

What are my chances for a substantially comparable?
    Thanks

      1. Hi Anthony
I have completed MBBS followed by 3 yrs of general surgery training , followed by 3 yrs of plastic surgery training in india . I worked as a fellow for 1 yr post plastic surgery training , and now working as a consultant since last 1 yr .
What are the chances of me getting partial comparability via specialist assessment ?
If I do get it and have to do 2 yrs of supervised trainee job , will I get paid during that time period ???
        Thanks in advance

        1. Chances of comparability with RACS are the lowest of all the colleges at around 59% for both PC and SC.

If you are able to secure a post after this then you should be paid.

      2. Hi Anthony I completed my MD Radio-diagnosis from India and worked for 3 + years as consultant what are my chances of being radiologist in Australia and also how can I work in australia as radiologist.

        1. Spare Radiology posts are tough to come by in Australia. There is strong competition for these as the College tends to approve the majority of SIMG applications as Partially Comparable.

Just wanted to know about my prospects in Australia, if you can please guide .

  10. Hi Anthony, I have done my MBBS from India and currently pursuing DNB(Diplomate of National Board) in Radiology in India only. Would like to know what will be the correct pathway for me to come to Australia. Also is DNB recognised in Australia, it is equivalent to MD in India.

    1. Specialist Pathway.
However Radiology is saturated with IMGs on the Specialist Pathway in Australia.
